Shinbayashi Park 新林公園

Starting from the south exit of Fujisawa Station, follow National Route 467 southward toward Enoshima. Just beyond the Fujisawa Civic Hall and after crossing the Sakai River, you’ll come upon Shinbayashi Park.

Covering an area of 16.20 hectares (roughly 3.5 times the size of the Tokyo Dome), the park offers a relaxing retreat amid lush natural surroundings.

Inside the park, an Edo-period farmhouse—designated as a cultural property by Fujisawa City—has been relocated and preserved. In addition, open spaces for children to play and well-maintained hiking trails make it a favorite spot for local residents.

Especially from late February to early March, when the plum blossoms are in full bloom, the park is a popular destination where you can experience the early arrival of spring.

It takes about an 18‑minute walk from Fujisawa Station to the entrance of Shinbayashi Park.

There is a plaza next to the park’s parking lot, and a free parking area (with space for 32 vehicles) is available.

Shinbayashi Park’s Plum Blossoms

Plum trees are planted on the grassy plaza in front of the traditional farmhouse.

There are plum trees with impressive branching and red petals.

A small artificial pond is located beside the plaza.

There is a plum tree with pink and white mixed blossoms, said to be a Genpei variety. Several such plum trees were present.
